Review Timeline and Notification

Penn State Law Review accepts submissions throughout the year. The Board typically convenes to select articles for publication in late August and early March.

Penn State Law Review is committed to providing timely notification of the Board’s decision for every manuscript submitted for publication. If you have submitted a manuscript and have not heard from us, you can assume your article is still under consideration.

Manuscript Specifications

  • Microsoft Word format - please submit a .doc or .docx file in addition to the .pdf file
  • Single or double-spaced
  • Minimum of 8,000 words (including footnotes)
  • Maximum of 35,000 words (including footnotes)
  • Footnotes, not endnotes
  • Text and citations should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st ed. 2020)

In addition to the manuscript, authors should submit an abstract and current CV.

Penn Statim Specifications

The Penn Statim, the online companion to the Penn State Law Review, invites the submission of unsolicited articles for publication.

Preference will be given to current pieces ranging between 5,000 and 10,000 words.

Authors are encouraged to use gender-neutral language. In addition, citations should substantially conform to the most recent edition of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (a copyright of The Columbia Law Review Association, The Harvard Law Review Association, the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, and The Yale Law Journal).
